Fetal distress cases in Connecticut

When you are pregnant, your doctor is supposed to monitor the health of your fetus, both during your pregnancy as well as during your labor and delivery. If your doctor or the obstetrics staff failed to appropriately monitor your fetus for signs of distress, your baby may have been seriously injured or even died as a result.

Study warns breast biopsy errors likely commonplace

A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association strongly suggests that pathologists' readings of breast biopsies can often be imperfect. Of concern to women who are making decisions about breast cancer treatment was the finding that diagnosing precancerous cells is wrong almost half the time.

Laryngeal injuries in Connecticut

An infant who assumes a position in utero with the head turned and flexed laterally may sustain an injury to the laryngeal nerves. In order to correctly diagnose the condition, a visual examination of the cords needs to be made by using a laryngoscope. From there, a trusted physician can determine whether one or both cords have been affected.

When a mother dies during pregnancy or childbirth

Most Connecticut women expect to experience a safe and successful pregnancy and delivery. While it is true that pregnancy and childbirth have become much safer with the available technology, there is always the risk that the mother will not survive. When a mother does die, the cause may be neglect or carelessness on behalf of the medical staff.
