One hospital blamed for three cases of cerebral palsy

The arrival of a new baby is cause for excitement. Connecticut families joyously plan for their new addition to love and raise. They trust healthcare providers to care for the mother and newborn. Unfortunately, things may not go as planned, and babies can suffer serious, life-changing injuries at birth due to the negligence of those entrusted with their care. Three different families are in the process of suing a hospital from another state that they say caused their children to develop cerebral palsy.

One of the families in this story states that the problem occurred during the birth of their son. The mother was struggling during delivery, but a C-section was not ordered for quite some time. When the baby was finally born, he wasn't moving and looked very pale. The baby was able to be resuscitated after a period of time that the parents believed was too long. He now suffers permanent brain damage and cerebral palsy.

The cases of the other two families are similar to this one. The same doctor cared for the woman in the previously detailed story was also the doctor for one of the other families. All three of the families are pursuing lawsuits against the hospital.

Families here in Connecticut who find themselves in the situation of these three out-of-state families may decide to file a civil claim against those deemed responsible for the cerebral palsy of their children. A successfully litigated claim could result in monetary compensation that could be used to cover future and past medical expenses for the child and any other costs that could arise as the family cares for them. The families won't love their children any less, but it could give them peace of mind that they will be able to provide for their needs.
