Woman claims negligence occurred during cyst removal surgery

Patients are in a very vulnerable position when they are undergoing a surgical procedure. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals here in Connecticut make sure to not act negligently when providing patients with surgical care. No patient should have to face surgical negligence.

A case has recently arisen involving allegations of surgical negligence. The case is from another state, West Virginia.

The case involves a surgery that a woman underwent in February 2010. The surgery in question was an ovarian cyst removal procedure.

The woman claims that a doctor committed negligence during this surgery. She alleges that this negligence resulted in her bowel getting damaged and that this, in turn, caused her significant harm, including requiring her to have an additional surgery.

The woman says that the above-mentioned doctor was an employee of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. According to the West Virginia Record article which reported this story, a lawsuit has been brought by the woman against this federal agency in relation to the alleged surgical negligence. It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens in this medical malpractice case.

As the allegations in this case illustrate, surgical negligence can result in patient's getting injured. Injuries suffered due to surgical negligence can have major impacts on a person's life. Such effects can lead to a person facing significant costs.

If a person suspects that they were the victim of harmful surgical negligence, they may wish to consider meeting with an experienced medical malpractice attorney to talk about what options are available to them to pursue financial relief.
