Verdict reached in medical malpractice case

It is very important for doctors to act properly when caring for patients. This includes making sure to take all proper follow-up actions after making discoveries regarding a patient's health.

Patients in Connecticut put a great deal of trust in their doctors. When doctors fail to live up to this trust and commit a failure to take proper follow-up actions or other medical negligence, patients can suffer great harm. No patient in Connecticut should have to face harmful medical negligence.

A verdict was recently reached in a medical malpractice case that involved an alleged failure to take proper follow-up actions. The case was from another state, Illinois. The case involved a man who received care from a doctor over several years.

Reportedly, the doctor diagnosed the man with a heart valve condition and later had an echocardiogram taken of the man that confirmed the existence of this condition. The man alleged that, after this, the doctor failed to take proper follow-up actions. Specifically, the man claims that the doctor failed to order proper follow-up tests and failed to refer him to a cardiologist.

According to the man, this alleged negligence resulted in an infection that developed on his heart valve not being detected until it caused him to have a stroke.

A medical malpractice lawsuit was brought by the man and his wife in connection to these allegations. This case went to trial and the jury in this case recently reached its decision. The jury ruled in favor of the man and his wife and awarded them a large monetary judgment.
