Lawsuit brought in connection to alleged wrong-site surgery

Surgical negligence can cause a great deal of harm to patients. Recently, a case has arisen involving allegations of this type of medical negligence.

The case involves a woman who underwent a surgery on her brain and skull at a hospital in Missouri.

The surgery reportedly was supposed to be performed on the left side of the woman's skull and brain. However, according to the woman, the surgery was mistakenly performed on the other side. Reportedly, after this wrong-site surgery, the surgery was performed a second time, this time on the correct side.

The woman alleges that the wrong-site surgery was the result of negligence on the part of the hospital and the surgeon who performed the procedure.

According to the woman, the wrong-site surgery has led to her needing assistance to meet her basic needs, losing the ability to speak intelligibly and suffering a variety of other harms.

A lawsuit has been brought by the woman in a court in Missouri in connection to the above allegations. Named as defendants in this lawsuit are the above-mentioned surgeon and the company that owns the above-mentioned hospital and employs the surgeon.

The allegations in this case underscore one of the types of surgical errors that, sadly, sometimes occur: wrong-site surgeries. Wrong-site surgeries can be extremely harmful to patients. No patient should have to be subjected to such surgical errors.

There are options available for seeking relief when a person is injured by surgical negligence or other types of medical negligence. One such option is pursuing a medical malpractice claim.
