Trial begins in case involving allegations of medication-related negligence

It is very important for medical professionals to not commit negligence in relation to the prescribing of medications to patients. Medication-related negligence can be a very serious matter. Such negligence can sometimes even result in a patient's death.

Recently, a trial has begun in a medication negligence case. The case is from Wyoming.

The case involves a woman who reportedly was prescribed the medication Actiq by a doctor.

The woman's family claims that the doctor committed negligence in relation to the prescribing of the medication to the woman, including failing to properly take into account the woman's medical history.

According to the woman's family, the doctor's alleged negligence led to the woman's death. The woman died in June 2008. The woman reportedly died from a lethal combination of medications.

The woman's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit in connection to these allegations. The above-mentioned doctor, a medical group and a medical clinic are named as defendants in this case. The article on the Casper Star-Tribune's website which reported this story did not mention what specific relief the woman's family is seeking.

On Monday, a jury trial started in regards to this case. The trial reportedly is expected to go for eight days. One wonders what will ultimately happen in this trial.

As the allegations in this case underscore, medication-related negligence can be extremely harmful. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals make sure to act properly in relation to the prescribing of medications. One also hopes medical professionals are held accountable when they commit medication-related negligence and such negligence results in a patient suffering harm or dying.
