Jury reaches verdict in wrongful death case

No patient should have to be subjected to medical negligence. Medical negligence can be extremely harmful to patients. Such negligence can sometimes even lead to a patient's death.

Recently, a jury reached its decision in a wrongful death case that involved allegations of medical negligence. The case was from Maryland. The case involved a woman who received medical care in March 2007 after having suffered a fall in a driveway.

The woman's family claimed that one of the doctors who was involved in the woman's care acted negligently in connection to the woman's care. Specifically, the woman's family alleged that this doctor failed to properly follow up on certain tests that were performed on the woman.

Allegedly, after this alleged failure, the woman's condition worsened and she ended up having to undergo a surgery. Reportedly, the woman died from complications from this surgery. The woman died in July 2007.

A wrongful death lawsuit was brought in a court in Maryland by the woman's family against the doctor in connection to the above allegations. The jury in this case recently reached its decision. The jury ruled against the doctor and awarded the deceased woman's family a monetary judgment.

As the allegations that were made in this recently decided case underscore, medical negligence can cause a great deal of harm. One hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they commit harmful negligence. No patient should have to suffer harm or lose his or her life because a medical professional failed to act properly.
