Verdict issued in medical malpractice case

Diagnosis-related negligence can be a very serious matter. No patient should have to be subjected to such negligence. Diagnosis-related negligence can result in delays occurring in the detection and treatment of medical conditions. Such delays can be very harmful to patients.

A verdict was recently reached in a case that involved allegations of diagnosis-related negligence. The case involved a hospital in New York.

Reportedly, in January 2009, a woman received care at the hospital. According to the woman, the doctors who provided her with care at the hospital failed to properly diagnose a heart attack she was suffering from. She also alleged that the doctors failed to provide her with proper treatment.

The woman claimed that the alleged negligence of the doctors resulted in her suffering serious damage to her heart. Reportedly, the woman's heart lost a significant amount of pumping capacity and the woman will eventually require a heart transplant.

The woman brought a medical malpractice lawsuit in a court in New York against the hospital in connection to the above allegations. A trial was held in regards to this matter and the jury recently reached a decision in this case. The jury ruled against the hospital and awarded the woman a large monetary judgment.

As the allegations that were made in this recently decided case illustrate, patients can suffer great harm when they are subjected to diagnosis-related negligence. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals and medical facilities make sure to act properly when it comes to the diagnosing of patients.
