Woman claims she was given cancerous pancreas

Patients can suffer great harm when medical professionals and medical facilities act negligently in connection to organ transplants. Thus, it is very important for medical professionals and medical facilities to make sure to act properly when it comes to such transplants.

Recently, a case involving allegations of organ transplant-related negligence has arisen in Illinois. The case involves a woman who reportedly underwent a pancreas transplant at a hospital in Illinois in 2008.

The woman claims that the physician who performed the organ transplant, a donor network and the hospital committed negligence in connection to the transplant. Specifically, the woman claims that she was negligently given a pancreas that was cancerous.

Reportedly, some point after the transplant, the woman was diagnosed with cancer. The woman claims that she acquired cancer as a result of the alleged transplant-related negligence.

According to the article on the Chicago Sun-Times' website which reported this story, a lawsuit has been brought by the woman in connection to the above allegations. The article did not mention what specific relief the woman is seeking in this lawsuit. It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens in this case.

As the allegations in this case underscore, organ transplant-related negligence can be very harmful. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals and medical facilities make sure to avoid committing such negligence. One also hopes that medical professionals and medical facilities are held accountable when they act negligently in connection to an organ transplant and such negligence results in a patient suffering harm.
