Woman claims doctor acted negligently during surgery

It is very important for medical professionals to act properly when providing a patient with care in connection to a surgical procedure. When a medical professional acts negligently during a surgery, it can result in a patient suffering great harm.

Recently, a medical malpractice case involving allegations of surgery-related negligence has arisen in Illinois. The case involves a woman who reportedly underwent abdominal surgery in April 2010.

The woman alleges that, during this surgical procedure, a doctor who was providing her with care in relation to the surgery acted negligently in connection to the insertion of a Verees needle. According to the woman, this alleged negligence caused her aorta to get punctured, which in turn led to her suffering a variety of harms including:

  • Pain
  • Injuries
  • Having to undergo an additional surgery

A lawsuit has been brought in a court in Illinois by the woman and her husband in connection to these allegations. In this lawsuit, a medical practice and the above-mentioned doctor have been named as defendants. Reportedly, damages are being sought in this lawsuit. One wonders what will happen in this medical malpractice case and how it will ultimately be resolved.

No patient should have to suffer harm because a medical professional acted negligently during a surgical procedure. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals take care to avoid committing negligence like that alleged in this case. One also hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they commit surgical negligence and such negligence results in a patient getting hurt.
