Medical malpractice lawsuit brought against hospital

It is very important for medical professionals and hospitals to avoid committing negligence which could expose a patient to infections. Such negligence can cause a great deal of harm to patients.

Recently, a case involving allegations of the above-mentioned type of negligence has arisen in Virginia. The case involves a hospital in Virginia.

Reportedly, in 2010, a woman received care at the hospital. According to the woman, negligence occurred during the course of this care. Specifically, the woman claims that she was negligently given an IV which was tainted with the bacteria streptococcus pyogenes. The woman further claims that this alleged negligence resulted in her suffering a blood infection. According to the woman, she had to undergo a variety of medical procedures as a result of this blood infection.

According to the article on the Northern Virginia Daily's website which reported this story, a lawsuit has been brought in a court in Virginia by the woman against the hospital in connection to these allegations. In this lawsuit, the woman is asking for damages. It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens in this case.

As the allegations in this case illustrate, it can be very harmful when hospitals and/or medical professionals commit negligence during the course of providing care to a patient. No patient should have to suffer harm because a medical professional or hospital failed to act properly. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals and hospitals make sure to not act negligently in regards to patient care.
