Verdict reached in birth injury case

It can be very harmful when hospitals and medical professionals act negligently in connection to the delivery of a child. Child delivery-related negligence by medical professionals and hospitals can result in a child suffering impactful birth injuries. Thus, it is very important for medical professionals and hospitals to not commit negligence when providing care in connection to the birth of a child.

Recently, a jury reached its verdict in a medical negligence case from Michigan centered around alleged birth injuries. The case involved a woman whose daughter was reportedly delivered at a Michigan hospital. The woman's daughter is now 15.

The woman alleged that the above-mentioned hospital and a doctor acted negligently during the delivery of her daughter. The woman claimed that this alleged negligence resulted in her daughter suffering:

  • Brain trauma
  • A fractured clavicle
  • Hemorrhaging

The woman brought a lawsuit in Michigan against the hospital in connection to these allegations. A trial was held in regards to this lawsuit and the jury in this case recently reached its verdict. According to the UPI article which reported this story, the jury ruled against the hospital and awarded the woman a large monetary judgment.

As the allegations that were made in this case underscore, great harm can be caused when medical professionals and/or hospitals act negligently in connection to a delivery. No child should have to suffer birth injuries because of medical negligence. Thus, one hopes that hospitals and medical professionals make sure to act properly when providing care in connection to the delivery of a child.
