CT Medical Examining Board reprimands two doctors in relation to surgeries

When a person undergoes a surgery, they expect that the medical professionals who are involved in the procedure will provide them with proper care. When medical professionals fail to act properly during a surgery, it can result in surgical errors occurring. Surgical errors can be a very serious matter. Such errors can cause a great deal of harm to patients.

Recently, Connecticut's Medical Examining Board took disciplinary actions against two doctors in connection to alleged surgical errors.

The first doctor is a doctor from Hamden who reportedly was involved in a procedure that occurred at a New Haven hospital in 2008. The procedure was a hernia surgery. It has been alleged that, during the procedure, the doctor improperly used a tacking device and that this, in turn, resulted in an artery of the surgical patient getting lacerated.

The second doctor is a doctor from Norwich who reportedly was involved in a procedure that occurred at a Norwich hospital in January of 2008. The procedure was a spinal surgery. It has been alleged that, during the surgery, the doctor removed the wrong lamina.

Reportedly, Connecticut's Medical Examining Board has reprimanded both doctors in connection to the above-mentioned surgical errors that they allegedly committed.

No patient should have to be exposed to surgical errors like the alleged errors discussed above. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals will make sure to not act improperly when they are involved in a surgical procedure. One also hopes that the state will do what it can to help protect patients in Connecticut from surgical errors.
