Breast cancer detection in Connecticut

A retrospective study done a few years ago caused many to believe that early detection of breast cancer is not critical to survival and recovery. According to the study, improved treatment plans have helped to increase the survival rates of breast cancer patients. However, a more recent retrospective study that has been published in a medical journal indicates that early detection is key.

Researchers in the new study used data from the Netherlands Cancer Registry to look at the outcomes of women diagnosed with primary breast cancer. The first group had a median age of 59 and were diagnosed between 1999 and 2005, and the second group had a median age of 60 and were diagnosed between 2006 and 2012.

It was determined that survival rates were shorter if women had cancer that affected their lymph nodes, and larger tumors also reduced survival and recovery rates. The researchers also indicated that if current technology was not up to detecting cancer early enough, it did not mean that detection was not needed. Instead, technology and detection methods need to be improved because they are an important part of improving survival rates.

There are few medical conditions that will not worsen if they are not detected in a timely manner. Therefore, it is important that medical negligence does not result in an inaccurate or delayed diagnosis, as people may end up with worsened conditions. Lack of appropriate treatment may cause people to develop new conditions and, in some cases, lead to death. If someone or their family member has been harmed due to a misdiagnosis, a lawyer could assist them in seeking compensation for the damages that have been sustained.
