Investigation launched into facility where Joan Rivers died

Suffering an injury or illness as a result of negligent medical care can be devastating. We expect to go to the hospital to feel better, but the fact is that thousands of people end up feeling worse due to a preventable error made by doctors or nurses.

In the most serious cases of medical malpractice, the mistake is so severe that a patient does not survive a procedure. If this happens, it can be crucial to investigate whether an error contributed to the death. This appears to be what is happening at the facility where iconic comedienne Joan Rivers died after a surgical operation.

Rivers was undergoing an operation when she went into respiratory and cardiac arrest for some reason, which has yet to be determined, and did not recover. There are no indications that her health was in danger prior to the surgery, so there may be a possibility that an error made during the operation resulted in her catastrophic injuries.

Recently, an investigation was launched to look into the clinic where the operation was performed. In similar situations, investigators will scrutinize the anesthesia processes in place, whether staff adequately monitored the vital signs of a patient, and the actions of the doctors and nurses present. If it is determined that the care was inadequate, dangerous or delayed, there may be grounds for a medical malpractice suit.

Money and lawsuits may be the last things on a person's mind after such a traumatic experience. However, speaking to an attorney sooner, rather than later, could be a good way to hold the appropriate parties accountable and get the answers that victims of medical malpractice and their families deserve.
