Lawsuit: negligence regarding painkiller patch led to man's death

There are many different types of medications medical professionals in Connecticut prescribe to patients. One such type are painkillers. Painkillers can be a very strong and impactful type of medication. Thus, it is very important for all medical professionals in Connecticut to act properly when it comes to the prescribing of painkillers.

Medication-related negligence regarding painkillers can have devastating consequences. Such negligence can cause great harm to patients and can sometimes even result in a death. One hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they commit harmful negligence in relation to painkillers.

A case has recently arisen involving allegations of painkiller-related negligence. The case is from another state, Wyoming. The case involves the care a man received at a hospital after he underwent a surgery.

Reportedly, during this post-surgical care, the man was prescribed medications, including a Fentanyl patch (a painkiller patch). The man's family alleges that one of the man's doctors acted negligently in relation to the prescription of the patch and that this doctor also committed other negligence in relation to the man's care.

Soon after he was discharged from the hospital, the man died. The man's death reportedly was caused by a mixed drug overdose. The man's family alleges that this overdose was the result of the doctor's alleged negligence.

A federal lawsuit has been brought by the man's family in a court in Wyoming against the doctor, the hospital and several other parties in connection to the above allegations. One wonders what will ultimately happen in this case.
