Man claims he was prescribed wrong dosage of heart medication

Prescription medications can be of great benefit to patients when properly prescribed. However, when a medical professional or medical facility commits an error when prescribing a medication to a patient (such as prescribing the wrong medication or prescribing a medication at the wrong dosage), something that was meant to help a patient can quickly become something of great harm. Prescription medication errors can result in patients suffering impactful injuries.

Recently, a case has come up involving an alleged prescription error.

The case involves a man who suffered a heart attack in spring 2011. Reportedly, after the man suffered this heart attack and received treatment for it, doctors at a hospital in Belleville, Illinois prescribed him the medication Effient for his heart problems.

The man claims that the dosage the doctors prescribed the medication at was not the right dosage. According to the man, taking the medication at the wrong dosage caused him a variety of harms, including: pain, injuries, anemia, disfigurement and disability.

The man has brought a lawsuit in a court in Illinois in connection to these allegations of medication-related negligence. Damages are being sought in this lawsuit.

As the allegations in this case underscore, prescription errors can cause a great deal of harm to patients. No person should have to be subjected to such errors. If a person suspects that he or she has been the victim of a prescription error, he or she may wish to consider contacting an experienced medical malpractice attorney to see what options are available for seeking relief.
