Lawsuit claims negligence during dental surgery led to teen's death

It can be very harmful when a medical professional or medical facility commits negligence while providing a patient with care in connection to a dental surgery. Such negligence can sometimes even have fatal results.

Recently, a wrongful death case has arisen involving a dental surgery and allegations of negligence. The case involves a now-deceased teenage boy who underwent a root canal surgery in February 2011. The surgery reportedly was performed at a dental office in Cook County, Illinois.

It has been alleged that the doctor who performed this surgery acted negligently during the procedure and that this alleged negligence led to the teenage boy suffering sepsis and dying. The boy died on Feb. 9, 2011.

According to the Southtown Star article which reported this story, a wrongful death lawsuit has been brought in a court in Illinois by an administrator of the boy's estate in connection to the above allegations. The lawsuit names the above-mentioned doctor and the dental chain that the above-mentioned dental office is a part of as defendants. It has been reported that damages are being asked for in this lawsuit. It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens in this case.

No patient should have to be subjected to negligence during a dental surgery. As the allegations in the above-mentioned case illustrate, such negligence can cause a great deal of harm. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals and medical facilities make sure to act properly when providing patients with care in relation to a dental surgery.
