Man claims he was given too high of a dose of pain medication

Patients can suffer great harm when medical professionals and/or hospitals commit medication-related negligence. No patient should have to be subjected to such negligence. Thus, it is very important for doctors and hospitals to make sure to not act negligently when prescribing and/or administering medications to patients.

Recently, a case involving allegations of medication-related negligence has arisen in Texas.

The case involves a man who reportedly had an intrathecal pump inserted into him for the purpose of administering daily doses of pain medication. The medication was reportedly for back pain he experienced due to a work injury.

The man alleges that the daily doses of medication that he was prescribed to have administered through this pump were too high. The man claims that this alleged prescribing of too high of a dose resulted in him suffering multiple harms including a brain injury.

A lawsuit has been brought by the man in a court in Texas in connection to the above allegations. The doctor who reportedly prescribed the intrathecal injections and a hospital are two of the defendants in this lawsuit. Damages are being sought in this lawsuit. One wonders what will ultimately happen in this case.

As the allegations in this case demonstrate, medication-related negligence can be very harmful to patients. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals and hospitals are held accountable when they commit such negligence. One also hopes that all medical professionals and hospitals make sure to act properly when it comes to the giving of medications to patients.
