A patient can suffer a great deal of harm when a hospital or medical professional acts negligently in connection to his or her care. Sadly, such medical negligence can sometimes even lead to a patient's death.
Recently, a case involving allegations of negligent care has arisen in West Virginia. The case involves a couple whose daughter reportedly received care from a doctor and a rehabilitation hospital in West Virginia after she had a brain tumor removed. The couple's daughter reportedly died on April 6.
The couple claims that the hospital and the doctor acted negligently in several ways during the course of providing care to their daughter. According to the couple, this alleged medical negligence caused their daughter to suffer several injuries and contributed to her death.
A lawsuit has been brought by the couple in a court in West Virginia against the doctor and the hospital in connection to the above allegations. It has been reported that compensatory and punitive damages are being sought in this lawsuit. One wonders what will happen in this case and how it will ultimately be resolved.
As the allegations in this case underscore, it can be very harmful when medical professionals and/or hospitals commit negligence in connection to the care of patients. Thus, one hopes that hospitals and medical professionals are held accountable when they provide patients with negligent care. No patient should have to suffer injuries or lose his or her life because a hospital or medical professional failed to act properly.
