Settlement reached in birth injury case

Birth injuries can cause a great deal of harm to infants. No infant should have to suffer birth injuries because a health care professional acted negligently during his or her birth. Thus, it is very important for health care professionals to not act negligently when providing care in connection to the birth of a child.

Recently, a birth injury case from Idaho was settled. The case involved two women who worked as midwives and who own a birthing center in Idaho.

Reportedly, in June 2008, a girl was born at this birthing center. The girl's parents alleged that the two above-mentioned women committed negligence during the girl's birth and that this negligence caused the girl to suffer birth injuries. According to the girl's parents, the girl suffered permanent brain damage.

The girl's parents brought a lawsuit against the two above-mentioned women in connection to these allegations.

As we mentioned above, the girl's parents and the two women recently reached a settlement in regards to this lawsuit. Reportedly, as part of this settlement, the girl's parents will receive a monetary payment.

On a side note, the two above-mentioned women reportedly recently had their midwife licenses suspended in connection to incidents unrelated to the above-mentioned case.

As the allegations that were made in the above-mentioned recently settled case underscore, infants can suffer great harm when health care professionals commit negligence during child births. Thus, one hopes that all health care professionals make sure to act properly when providing care in relation to the birth of a child.
