Woman sues eye doctor

When patients receive care from a medical professional, they expect that the medical professional will not act negligently when providing said care. Patients can suffer great harm when medical professionals fail to meet these expectations. Thus, it is very important for medical professionals to make sure to avoid acting negligently when providing care to a patient.

Recently, a case has arisen in Illinois involving allegations of medical negligence. The case involves a woman who reportedly received care from an eye doctor in 2009. The woman alleges that the doctor acted negligently in connection to this care. Specifically, she claims that the doctor failed to evaluate her eyes in a proper fashion and acted improperly in regards to the treatment of an eye condition that she suffered from.

According to the woman, this alleged negligence caused her to suffer a variety of harms including:

  • A significant loss of vision
  • Pain
  • Suffering

The woman has brought a medical malpractice lawsuit in Illinois against the eye doctor in connection to these allegations. In her lawsuit, the woman reportedly is seeking monetary relief. It will be interesting to see what happens in this case and how it is ultimately resolved.

As the allegations in this case illustrate, it can be very harmful when a medical professional provides a patient with negligent care. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals make sure to act properly when giving a patient care. One also hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they commit negligence when caring for a patient and such negligence results in a patient suffering harm.
