Last post, we discussed how important it is for medical professionals to provide patients with proper care during surgeries. It is also very important for medical professionals to not act negligently when it comes to providing a patient with post surgical care. This type of negligence can cause great harm to patients.
Recently, a case has arisen in West Virginia involving allegations of post surgical negligence. The case involves a woman who reportedly underwent a surgery at a West Virginia hospital in 2009. This surgery was allegedly performed by a surgeon from Huntington, West Virginia.
The woman and her husband allege that this surgeon failed to provide the woman with proper care after the surgery. According to the woman and her husband, this negligence by the surgeon caused the woman to suffer many harms including:
- Severe injuries
- Pain and suffering
- Mental anguish
The woman and her husband have now brought a medical negligence lawsuit in West Virginia against the surgeon in connection to these allegations. It will be interesting to see how this case is ultimately resolved.
As the allegations in this case underscore, patients can suffer great harm when medical professionals fail to provide them with proper post surgical care. No patient should have to suffer harm because of negligence committed by a medical professional. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals will make sure to not act negligently when it comes to post surgical care. One also hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they engage in negligence which causes a patient harm.
