Nursing Home Abuse & Negligence

In the last 20 years, increasingly larger numbers of the elderly have required admission to nursing homes and assisted living facilities.  A nursing home is a health care facility which provides skilled nursing and rehabilitative care to the elderly.  Disabled individuals or ill patients may also be admitted to nursing homes.

Nursing homes are regulated by both Federal and State law.  These laws protect the rights of patients and regulate the standard of care to be provided to nursing home patients.  A nursing home patient is entitled to high quality, compassionate and skilled care.  A patient does have to sacrifice the quality of their life or their dignity when they are admitted to a nursing home.

• Malnutrition
• Dehydration
• Pressure Sores/Bed sores/Decubitis Ulcers
• Psychological Abuse
• Physical Abuse
• Unnecessary Patient Restraints
• Unsupervised Care
• Lost or Missing Patients
• Wandering Patients who are Injured
• Unattended Pneumonia
