  • Tractor-trailer strikes 5 year old child - $3,000,000 settlement – June 2008 – Andy Savvaides negotiated a 3 million dollar present value settlement which will result in payouts worth over 7 million over the child’s lifetime. The case involved a 5 year old boy who was struck by a tractor-trailer in 1999 when he ran into the road. The child sustained life threatening injuries and required several surgeries to recover. Savvaides took over the case after another law firm had given up on it. Several experts were hired to prosecute the case and develop the damages including a trucking accident reconstruction expert, a vocational economic expert and a life care planner.  Case details.

  • Medical Malpractice Verdict of $750,000. Andy Savvaides obtained a jury verdict of $750,000 in Evans v. Yale New Haven Hospital in 2006. The client was badly burned by a heated saline bag which was placed under his back during a routine operation at Yale New Haven Hospital. The client required painful skin grafting procedures. The hospital admitted negligence but was willing to offer only a fraction of the ultimate jury verdict in an attempt to settle the case.

  • Motor Vehicle Collision - $775,000 settlement - May 2001 - Andy Savvaides settled an individual's case where the victim was thrown from the bed of a pick up truck when a co-worker drove the truck head-on into a tree. He sustained injuries to his neck and back, and the accident resulted in a separated left shoulder which required surgery, fractured ribs and a cardiac contusion.

  • Passenger in a Motor Vehicle Collision - $475,000 settlement - January 2003 - Andy Savvaides negotiated a settlement of $475,000 in a case in which his client would have accepted a settlement of $75,000 early on as indicated by the filing of an early Offer of Judgment. The individual was a passenger in a vehicle struck in an intersection when the Defendant ran a red light. She sustained an aggravation of pre-existing neck and lower back injuries eventually requiring a lumbar fusion.

  • Assault of a Minor - $150,000 settlement - June 2003 - Andy Savvaides represented a 16-year-old high school student, who, while experimenting with psychedelic mushrooms, was brutally beaten by his friend, sustaining head injuries and multiple lacerations.

  • Motor Vehicle Collision - $230,000 settlement - March 2004 - Andy Savvaides resolved what appeared to be a very minor motor vehicle collision injury claim for $230,000 when an individual was rear-ended while at a stop during a snow storm. The damage to the involved vehicles was minor; however, the individual sustained a herniated disc in his lower back which required surgery.

  • Motor Vehicle Collision - $180,000 settlement - April 2005 - Andy Savvaides settled this claim for double damages when a person was rear-ended by a drunk driver. The victim sustained injuries to his neck and his right shoulder, which required arthroscopic surgery.

  • Lead Paint Poisoning - $195,000 settlement - May 2005 - Two toddlers suffered lead paint poisoning while living in rented premises. As a result, they suffered varying degrees of cognitive deficits. Andy Savvaides brought a claim against the landlord and resolved the matter for $195,000.

  • Motor Vehicle Collision - $150,000 settlement - June 2005 - An individual who was a passenger in a car that was rear-ended on I-95 suffered an aggravation of pre-existing neck and back injuries and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). Andy Savvaides took over the matter shortly before trial and negotiated a settlement of $150,000 where the prior lawyer generated an offer of only $60,000.

  • Motor Vehicle Collision - $150,000 settlement - October 2005 - Andy Savvaides resolved this case for $150,000 after taking over the case from another lawyer who recommended a settlement of $12,000. This individual was rear-ended by a drunk driver while at a stop for a red light and sustained an aggravation of pre-existing neck and back injuries as well as a right shoulder injury ultimately requiring arthroscopic surgery.

  • Improper Motor Vehicle Repair - $100,000 settlement - April 2006 - Andy Savvaides settled this claim for an individual who sustained an aggravation of longstanding pre-existing neck and back injuries when a tire fell off his car as he was driving on the Merritt Parkway, causing a crash. The victim's vehicle had just been picked up after having the brakes repaired.

  • Lumber Yard Injury - $575,000 Settlement - September 2007 - A contractor sustained a serious neck injury when he was struck on the head by a bundle of insulation. The contractor was walking past a storage barn in the lumber yard when one of the yard's employees threw a bundle of insulation from the second story of the storage barn. The bundle struck the man on the top of his head, knocking him to the ground. As a result, he sustained a herniated intervertebral disc injury at C5-6, which required a C4-5 and C5-6 anterior cervical discectomy with autologous bone graft fusion and C4-6 anterior cervical plating.
